MY HELPER

In John 14: 18, Jesus encouraged His disciples concerning His departure, by saying,
“I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”
Then in John 16:7-8, He says,
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to  you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin; and of righteousness,  and of judgment:”
Jesus is saying that we will not have to face life alone. He will always be with us here on earth through the Holy Spirit indwelling us as believers.
I love the way   Jesus characterizes the Holy Spirit’s ministry to us. He calls Him our Helper. Some versions translate this term as the Comforter. I love them both, because they are descriptive of God’s immediate and present ministry to me anytime and anywhere.
Many people feel that the Holy Spirit ministers only in certain times of Worship, and that his presence is revealed only though an emotional manifestation. It is true that He enables us to Worship in ways that lift us to God’s Throne of Glory, beyond our mere physical existence. However, the Holy Spirit’s ministry to us is even more helpful as He reveals Himself in the trials, tribulations, sorrows, and everyday struggles of life.
The Apostle Paul introduces us to this wonderful ever-present ministry of help and encouragement in Romans chapter 8. Paul not only tells us that the Holy Spirit is our helper, but he explains exactly how He helps, encourages, counsels, and comforts us.

Allow me to list some of the specific ways the Holy Spirit helps.

The Holy Spirit frees us from the fear of condemnation. (8:1-2)
The Holy Spirit helps to keep our minds on things that please God. (8:5-7)
The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us that we belong to God. (8:8-9)
The Holy Spirit gives life to our bodies ( 8:10 -13)
The Holy Spirit brings us into intimacy with God our Father ( 8:14 -17)
The Holy Spirit enables us to live with great expectations for the future ( 8:18 -23)
The Holy Spirit gives hope that brings perseverance to our lives ( 8:24 -25)
The Holy Spirit helps us pray when we’re weak and don’t understand ( 8:26 )
The Holy Spirit prays for us when we don’t know what to pray for. ( 8:27 )
The Holy Spirit assures us of God’s purpose in our circumstances ( 8:28 )
The Holy Spirit uses our circumstances to make us like Jesus ( 8:29 -30)
The Holy Spirit keeps us in God’s love no matter what. ( 8:39 )

Father, thank you for saving me and living in me through your Holy Spirit. Help me to reflect on His ministry today. Allow me to depend on His help no matter what my circumstances, so that my life may bring honor and glory to you – TODAY. In Jesus’Name, AMEN.

The Lord Bless Real Good – Dennis.
